The Art of Freeriding – Part 1 (Safety First)

For those who are interested in freeriding, there are a few things you need to understand. First thing that we are really concern while freeriding is our safety. In this part we will explain the safety precaution taken into consideration by Three Pegion Rider.

These are the safety measure taken by freerider. Most of the things here, we do recommend to be worn while freeriding:

1. Full face helmet: To protect your most important asset, head and face. Some freerider also wears normal cycling helmets or even skate style helmets, depending on the condition of track, and style of riding.
2. Goggles: To protect your eyes from flying debris such as mud and stones, very useful during wet conditions.
3. Hydration bag: To sustain your body hydration while riding, very important during those long hot freerides.
4. Full fingered gloves: Not only it protect your fingers when you fall but it also protects your well manicure fingers from cuts and bruises.
5. Loose, comfortable and solid pants: Less restriction to lower body movement and protect your lower part on contact with branches and other stuffs.
6. Knee and shin guards: Impact to the knee is one of the things everybody should avoid. There are time when your feet slip of the paddles and resulting in the most painful paddle and shin contact, this occasionally happens mostly during drop and jumps.
7. Grippy, comfortable and solid shoes: To prevent slippage from the paddle and protect your feet from impact during crashes.

We do recommended freeriders to wear other stuff like, body armor, arm and elbow guards and lower body protection such as padded pants. It all depend on the condition of the track and your style of riding.

In the next part we will explain on the other things you need to understand about freeriding, so stay tune, think safe and keep on rolling.
